The Learning Organization was designed by traveling, teaching faculty that wanted to broaden opportunities for faculty and schools across the globe. While there are many sites dedicated to offering full time faculty positions. We are the only site that offers a match-making service for faculty and universities to meet to discuss short-term (usually one term or one semester) assignments and opportunities.
We do not offer jobs. We initiate meetings between teachers and universities. Teaching as an adjunct faculty or visiting professor offers both the teacher and the school greater flexibility. Being an international teacher has allowed me to teach in diverse locations such as China, Uzbekistan, Kyrgyzstan, Tunisia, Zambia, the USA and the UK just to name a few.
Accepting short-term adjunct and visiting professor assignments gives young teachers a great way to boost their international experience while allowing older faculty an opportunity to travel while still doing what they love. I can say from personal experience, there is nothing better that living in remote countries around the world for one to four months while providing a valuable service. It’s more than just visiting though, it’s a life style, it’s getting to know your students, other international faculty, and having access to local knowledge about the culture and the lives people live.
For the universities, they get a wide range of talent that they may not be able to support on a full-time basis. One of the most common needs are native English-speaking professors. Many subjects such as engineering, sociology, and medical sciences are taught in English in universities around the world. However, in many remote locations it is nearly impossible to get full-time native English teachers. Our matchmaking services can fill this gap.
